How to Bet on F1: Odds, Bet Types and U.S. Races

New flash: football and basketball don’t have the entire U.S. sports calendar to themselves. Formula 1 returns to the United States, starting with the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, on October 25, then hitting the Las Vegas Strip for a Saturday night race on November 21.

F1 has steadily grown its U.S. fanbase through its popular Netflix show “Drive to Survive,” new courses in Miami and Vegas, and, most of all, great racing. You could also pass some kudos to the betting world, as sites like Bovada offer betting entertainment for every race.

Bovada’s F1 odds include podium finishes, winning teams, and head-to-head matchups, plus props for bettors who want something different.

Here’s how to bet on F1, understand F1 betting odds, and choose the right wagers before the green flag.

Upcoming U.S. Races to Bet On

The United States Grand Prix weekend runs October 23-25 at the Circuit of the Americas. Austin’s mix of fast corners, slower sections, and long straights makes it worth looking beyond top speed. Watch how consistently drivers maintain their pace over several laps, especially as their tires wear. Keep in mind that “United States Grand Prix” specifically means Austin, rather than every American F1 race.

Las Vegas follows on November 19-21, with the main race on Saturday, November 21. Its fast street circuit emphasizes straight-line speed and braking. Nighttime conditions also make tire preparation worth watching. A car that looks strong in Austin won’t automatically be the best choice in Vegas.

There is also a race in Miami; but that one occurred back in May.

F1 Betting Explained

Outright Race Winner

This is basically a moneyline bet: pick the driver who wins. In the 2026 US Grand Prix odds, Max Verstappen is the favorite at +150 after winning the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix, followed by Mercedes riders Kimi Antonelli at +220 and George Russell at +800. Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton are each +1100.

A $100 bet on Verstappen at +150 wins $150 in profit, returning $250 including your stake. Betting on Hamilton would give you $ 1,100 in profit on a $100 bet. The bigger the underdog, the bigger the payday.

Top 3 Finish

Your driver can finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. That gives you more ways to win than a straight-up wager, usually at a shorter price.

In the 2026 US Grand Prix, Verstappen is -275 to finish in the top three, compared with +150 to win. Antonelli is -190, while Russell is +135. Obviously, these bets are easier to pick, so the prices aren’t as profitable. A $275 bet on Verstappen yields a $100 profit.

Winning Car

Winning car bets mean you’re backing the team and not the driver. Think of it like a constructor’s bet. If you think Mercedes will win the day, a win by Russell or Antonelli cashes in.

Winning Car is a great choice for bettors who can spot which teams have the strongest cars or whose cars suit the circuit best, potentially offering value at longer odds. Keep in mind, this isn’t a bet on which team scores the most points.

Season Match Bets and Futures

Season Match Bets are head-to-head wagers on the entire F1 season between two drivers or two teams. They don’t need to win races or even finish on the podium; they just need to finish ahead of their listed opponent by season’s end. These results are based on the final FIA rules and tiebreakers if teams/drivers finish with similar points.

As for Futures, that’s easy. You’re betting on which driver or which team will finish with the most points by season’s end. These bets remain active regardless of disqualifications, accidents not the driver’s fault, or even if Verstappen finally loses it and retires to GT3 racing.

Timing Props

If you fancy yourself a hardcore F1 stan, then you know how much the milliseconds matter. You can bet on those milliseconds with wagers on “how many thousandths of a second will the winning time be” for Qualifying and the main race.

When you pick a digit from 0 to 9, you’re betting on the last digit of the official winning time. For example: If the winning time is 1:32:15.427, the winning selection is 7. The digits after the decimal measure thousandths of a second. Knowing which car has the strongest race pace provides little basis for predicting that final digit. Check whether you’re betting on the race time or qualifying time.

Beginner F1 Betting Tips

  • Qualifying helps establish the starting order, but starting first doesn’t guarantee finishing first. Compare qualifying speed with practice runs that show how cars perform over longer stretches.
  • An outright bet and a podium bet on the same driver are linked: one retirement can sink both. Lower the risk by splitting your budget across different wagers.
  • Before betting on the Austin or Vegas races, check the weather forecast, starting-grid penalties, and any other team news/drama. Pit stops, tire wear, and safety cars can change the race after you place your bet.
  • Betting earlier locks in your price; waiting gives you more information, potentially with better odds.
  • Start with one straightforward bet, set a weekend budget, and avoid increasing stakes to recover losses.
